Description The Golden Monkey is a modest yet popular tea shoppe located in downtown Apogee. It is run by three generations of the Liu family, the founder Jasmine who runs inventory and the register on Mon-Wed, her daughters Rachel and Amy who run the financials and her grandchildren James, Hannah (who work register) and Jason who continues his grandmother’s pastry recipes with a modern, culinary flair. The shop boasts a wide array of international teas, a homey decor and is especially popular with students. The pastries are baked fresh and their recipes, along with their signature tea blends, are guarded furiously by the Liu family. The family is aided by two hearth spirits and their personal summons, most notably Jasmine’s partner Sun Wukong who provides protection enchantments on the shop and the occasional prank. No one is entirely sure Sun isn’t the infamous spirit of Chinese legend just like no one is entirely sure where single-immigrant-mother Jasmine obtained the funds for the shop or the extensive and bizarre collection of contacts she has.
